Hi

I had a walk up through Harlaw and Threipmuir reservoirs on Monday and managed to see an OSPREY catch a fish in Threipmuir reservoir and fly off, chased by gulls and crows!!! Definitely an osprey, corroborated by another couple who couldn't believe their eyes!!! I'm assuming it's on its way to where it nests, probably further west or north of the Lothians, having migrated from Africa.

CURRENT PROJECTS
Here's a list of what we are currently up to... I want to keep this list going every week so we don't forget what needs to be done (or should I say what we will eventually get round to!!!!)
Scout Racetrack timer grid; Litter Picking Stations; Pink Bench - now finished; Shed fence - now finished; St Cuthbert's Church Sign; Shed Seats and Benches Refurbishment; Shed Path; Scout Gates; Scouts Whiteboard; Bird Boxes; Decorative Wheelbarrows; Currie P S Class signs - now finished; Currie P S Nursery Polytunnel; Homestart kits; Currie P S Summer Fayre signposts - now finished; Christmas decorations.

OUTINGS
Shed lunch has been booked by Alex for Friday 16th May at 1 p.m. He has also booked a narrow boat for a day trip along the Union Canal with the Seagull Trust, out of Ratho on the 12th September, and I understand it's fully booked already!!!

POSSIBLE NEW MEN'S SHED AT MEGGETLAND AREA - PROSPECTIVE VISIT
Ian White might visit us tomorrow to chat and pick up advice and tips on setting up a Men's Shed. His group are currently doing rowing boat repairs at Meggetland and he's wondering what the setting up of a Shed involves. I don't think he visited us last week, so maybe we'll see him tomorrow.

CURRIE NURSERY POLYTUNNEL
I'm looking for help in erecting their newly bought polytunnel. I've downloaded the instruction annual on how to erect it, so once we get a team together, we'll let them know when we will be on site. They understand it's a load of old codgers doing it for them so we should be well supplied with teas and biscuits.🍪🍵

CURRIE AND BALERNO ROTARY CLUB
Brian Smith of the above is looking for a speaker (human, not HiFi) to attend one of their weekly meetings and inform them of the community projects and suchlike that we as a Shed, carry out. Maybe even a bit about our history and ongoing projects. They meet in Baberton Golf Club an a Wednesday at 6:30 pm. You'll get a meal provided before the talk. The talk is about 20-25 minutes and there will be an audience of around 20 rotarians. They are a source of grant money, so it would be in our interest to do it. Any volunteers???🙏

DAVY MCLUCKIE AND HIS PINK BENCH
Please see the photo below showing Davy and a member of staff at the Breast Screening Centre, Ardmillan Terrace, where he presented them with the refurbished and repainted bench. Well done to both Davy, and master painter Ali 2Sheds for making it happen.

That's it for this week.

Keep safe and see you tomorrow.

Best Regards,
